"That could never happen to me"

We've all heard the renovation horror stories from first time home buyers.

But I wasn't like everyone else, I'd already been working in the construction industry and I knew more than most people.

So in 2011 I purchased my very first home, with dreams of doing a full renovation, the inspection came back clean, the seller had repaired minor issues and it was off to the races.

Until that phone call. "We've halted the demo- the kitchen is covered in pink and black mold".

My heart sank and I thought "How could this happen to... me?"

I'll never forget that feeling. I became obsessed with creating the healthiest home I could for my family and made a difficult decision..

I sold my dream home.

I knew I had to be an advocate for healthy homes. As a female in a male dominated industry, I couldn't stand by and let other families homes suffer from negligence.

We poured everything from the sale of that home to bootstrap Holistic Homes, and I've never looked back.

Was it all a blessing in disguise? My clients think so.
